The role
We are seeking an Information Management Manager with experience working with a team of information management staff, to assist in developing information and records management (IRM) directives and procedures; advises client groups regarding best practices; interpret and apply related legislation and policies; and stay current on emerging issues and trends in the IRM environment.
The responsibilities
- Manage the activities of the IM department by planning, developing, monitoring and revising plans and objectives.
- Conduct research and analysis on critical IM issues and concerns as identified by management.
- Forecast and review results and expectations and implement short and long term IM program and resource requirements.
- Prepare detailed documents on issues pertaining to IM projects by gathering information and data through in house reviews, researching and analysing relevant policies, procedures, and processes, and recommending and implementing solutions/improvements to ensure IM requirements are met.
- Conduct analysis and prepare reports and assessments of gaps and opportunities.
- Analyse information and provide support to meet departments requirements for plans, and policies in accordance with requirements.
- Control and administer all IM initiatives process by evaluating and recommending changes to policy, standards, methods and procedures.
- Liaise with other government departments and agencies to ensure that the organization is able to remain effective and efficient when new technology policies and projects are being developed and introduced.
- Provide stakeholder requirements, including from Library and Archives Canada, for information as part of all Alto projects and initiatives.
- Manage and communicate IM best practices that support Alto in being compliant with and aware of Library and Archives Canada and Government of Canada legislation, regulation, policies, and principles.
- Lead and coach employees directly and indirectly to respond to their needs and ensure excellent client service.
- Develop and provide presentations and training to Alto employees on issues of IM practices and procedures.
- Develop and deliver SharePoint training to all Alto employees.
The requirements
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience, preferably with a government organization.
- Graduate degree in IM, Library Science, Archival Studies, or equivalent.
- Recent experience dealing with legislative Data and Information Management requirements in support of administrative, legal or litigation proceedings such as ATIP requests, etc.
- Experience in researching and writing Data and Information Management policies, procedures or standards.
- Experience in creating planning documents.
- Ability to attain or currently hold Canadian Federal Government clearance at the Secret level.
