Would you like to take on a stimulating, high-impact challenge? We are looking for a Senior Advisor, Alignment and Drainage to provide senior-level technical oversight and expert guidance for Alignment and Drainage engineering activities.
The role
Reporting to the Senior Director, Civil Engineering, the ideal candidate will have a strong background in rail alignment, rail platform infrastructure and drainage, exceptional leadership abilities, and a proven track record of managing and delivering successful projects in this area. The Senior Advisor, Alignment and Drainage play a crucial role in the planning, design, and development of alignments, railway platform infrastructure and drainage for the Alto project. The person provides expert technical oversight on alignment-related matters to support the safe and efficient operation of the rail system.
The responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Private Development Partner to develop comprehensive plans for alignments that align with project timelines and objectives.
- Act as a subject matter expert on alignment and drainage engineering, providing technical guidance and oversight of the design process for alignments, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, safety protocols, and environmental considerations.
- Review and provide technical approvals design proposals and technical specifications.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for the Private Development Partner regarding alignment and drainage matters.
- Implement rigorous quality control measures to monitor alignment and drainage engineering activities, ensuring that all infrastructure elements meet required standards.
- Identify and mitigate potential project risks, such as material availability shortages, environmental impacts, and budget constraints.
- Collaborate with the Private Development Partner, government agencies, community stakeholders, and external partners to address concerns, resolve issues, and foster positive relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
- Contribute to the preparation of progress reports, technical documentation, and presentations for project stakeholders, including executive leadership, investors, and regulatory authorities.
The requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, or related filed (Master’s degree preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification (Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec).
- Minimum 8 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on rail design and construction projects.
- Experience in technical project management in major projects to support the broad alignment scope.
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles, design software, construction methods, and industry best practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency in both of Canada’s official languages.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
