The role
Reporting to the Senior Director, Compliance and Environmental Assessments, the candidate is responsible for carrying out the environmental and social assessment of the Alto Project. This person plays a key role in proactively integrating environmental considerations into the planning, development and operation of the Project, in compliance with regulatory requirements and sustainable development best practices.
The responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate and supervise the completion of environmental and social assessments for the Project.
- Collaborate with internal project teams and the PDP to ensure the planning of all required work and the follow-up of ongoing mandates and deadlines.
- Liaise with external stakeholders: regulatory agencies, communities, specialized consultants and environmental partners.
- Provide technical and regulatory expertise on environmental issues.
- Oversee the preparation of environmental management plans for the construction and operation phases of the Project.
- Collaborate in the planning of consultation and engagement activities and participate in the Project's public consultation processes.
- Oversee the development of the Project's environmental communications.
- Monitor changes in regulations and societal expectations regarding impact assessment and management.
- Monitor innovations and recognized approaches to reducing environmental impacts.
The requirements
- Bachelor's degree in environment, engineering, science or related field.
- Master's degree in management or environment (an asset).
- Minimum 8 years of experience in a similar role.
- Significant experience in regulatory processes (federal and/or provincial).
- Experience with large-scale projects.
- Experience in environmental program management.
- Experience in environmental compliance, records management, incident reporting, biodiversity protection.
- Solid understanding of environmental issues, environmental assessments, laws and regulations.
- Bilingualism (French and English), spoken and written.
- Knowledge of linear projects or infrastructures, railway or transportation experience.
- PMP certification (an asset).
