The role
The Director of Information Technology Operations is a senior leadership role within Alto, responsible for overseeing the daily management, strategic direction, and continuous improvement of IT operations across departments and with our business partners. This position ensures the effective delivery of secure, reliable, and innovative technology services that support Alto programs, operations and Private Development Partner (PDP) objectives.
The responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and develop the IT Operations team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Develop and implement operational strategies, policies, and standards to ensure the integrity, availability, and performance of Alto IT systems and infrastructure.
- Oversee incident response, problem management, and service delivery, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and best practices.
- Monitor and report on operational performance, service level agreements (SLAs), and key performance indicators (KPIs) to senior management.
- Establish and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, external vendors, PDP and partner agencies to support IT service delivery and innovation.
- Collaborate with Director IT Cyber Security to ensure robust cybersecurity measures are in place to protect Alto data, systems, and networks, in alignment with federal standards and privacy legislation.
- Manage IT budgets, contracts, and procurement processes efficiently and transparently, in compliance with Treasury Board and Alto internal guidelines.
- Actively contribute and/or Champion digital transformation initiatives and support the adoption of emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance Alto IT service delivery.
- Closely work with the IT Senior Advisor on the collaboration with Cadence.
- Work with all IT Directors to ensure business continuity and disaster recovery planning and execution for critical IT services.
- Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the IT operations team and across all technology initiatives.
The requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years progressive experience in IT operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of federal government policies, frameworks, and governance structures.
- Strong understanding of IT project life cycle.
- Proven experience managing large-scale IT infrastructure, cloud environments, and enterprise applications.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity, privacy, and risk management practices applicable to public sector organizations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with ITIL, COBIT, or other IT service management frameworks preferred.
- Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset.
- Eligibility for appropriate Government of Canada security clearance (Minimum Reliability, Secret an asset).
