Would you like to take on a stimulating, high-impact challenge?  We are looking for a Senior Advisor, Commercial Procurement and Contract Management.

The role

 

Reporting to the Senior Director, Contract Administration, the Senior Advisor, Commercial Procurement and Contract Management, plays a crucial role in supporting Alto’s contract administration function, with a particular focus on the procurement activities tied to the Pre-Development Agreement (PDA) that governs the Co-Development Phase with Cadence, our private developer partner.

 

During this phase, Alto and Cadence collaborate to advance the project design, engage in consultations with local communities, rightsholders, and stakeholders, and secure a positive Impact Assessment decision, among other activities. As part of the Commercial team, the Contract Administration function plays a critical role in supporting Alto’s operations. Key responsibilities of the Senior Advisor include providing senior-level advisory oversight in the review of assigned procurement files, assessing and providing recommendations on Cadence’s proposed procurement strategies, and advising teams to ensure value for money, compliance with contract requirements and alignment with project objectives. This role thrives on collaboration, working closely with cross-functional teams to align strategies, resolve challenges, and unlock value. It also involves engaging with Cadence when needed to drive shared outcomes.

 

The responsibilities

 

  • Monitor and evaluate Cadence-led procurement activities and provide advice to ensure the strategy and performance are aligned with the PDA.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, understand their needs and recommend best procurement practices.
  • Conduct market research, benchmarking and analysis.
  • Provide supply chain risk assessments and provide procurement expert knowledge to mitigate risks.
  • In collaboration with external stakeholders, monitor and provide advice on key subcontract milestones associated with high‑risk areas are completed in a timely manner.
  • Propose strategies and initiatives and uncover advantageous opportunities and/or threats related to procurement, identify and implement process improvement opportunities and provide recommendations.
  • Review complex tender documents developed by Cadence, ensuring alignment with the PDA and the project’s objectives.
  • Review and validate that contractual flow‑downs are applied by Cadence for all purchase orders, in coordination with Contract Management. Monitor contract renewals and amendments.
  • Maintain accurate registers and detailed reports of all procurement activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Prepare briefings and analysis as required by management to support decision-making.

 

The requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering, supply chain, or equivalent
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in preparing, managing and evaluating tenders, negotiating and closing-out contracts
  • Experience in the development of procurement strategies and managing procurement processes
  • Ability to work on in-depth analysis of complex contractual documents and prepare reports
  • Strong understanding of contract management processes
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in English is essential; proficiency in French is an asset to communicate with key stakeholders.
